Across the world, Shadowbox campuses have hosted some of the world’s most notable film and television projects, from major tentpole franchises to acclaimed independent features. We were hired to develop a unified brand ecosystem to successfully launch their global expansion.

Part One: Building a cinematic brand from the ground up

Following the consolidation of several production campuses under a single banner, the new brand needed to signal scale, ambition, and a clear break from the past. Beginning with the name Shadowbox Studios, we developed a visual identity system designed to feel bold, modern, and cinematic—reflecting the craft and spectacle of filmmaking itself. The logo establishes a strong, iconic mark that works across physical environments and digital platforms alike. From there, we created a flexible design language including a refined type system, a distinctive color palette, and consistent brand architecture that could scale across every brand touchpoint. The result is a cohesive brand universe that unifies multiple facilities while giving Shadowbox a commanding presence in the entertainment industry.

The new Shadowbox website was designed to serve as both a marketing platform and a practical resource for production teams. We created a streamlined, visually driven experience that showcases the scale of the studios, their stages, and their production capabilities. Large-format imagery, cinematic motion, and clear information architecture help potential clients quickly understand the breadth of Shadowbox’s facilities. Built on a flexible design system, the site accommodates future studio locations and evolving content needs. The result is a digital experience that mirrors the sophistication and ambition of the new brand.

Part Three: Transforming the studio environment into a branded experience

Beyond digital and print, the Shadowbox identity needed to come to life across the physical studio campuses themselves. We designed an extensive environmental graphics program including exterior signage, stage identification, directional wayfinding, and large-format displays. The system balances clarity and function with bold visual expression, ensuring that crew, talent, and visitors can easily navigate the facilities while experiencing the new brand at every turn. Durable materials, large-scale typography, and high-impact graphics extend the identity across buildings, streets, and stages. The result is an immersive branded environment that reinforces Shadowbox’s position as a premier destination for film and content production.

Challenge

When Commonwealth Asset Management acquired the Atlanta production facility formerly known as Blackhall Studios, the goal was not simply to rename the property—it was to redefine it. The new ownership wanted to distance the studio from its previous brand while signaling a new era of investment, ambition, and global scale. At the same time, the Atlanta location was only the beginning. Commonwealth was assembling a broader portfolio of production campuses, which meant the new brand needed to function as the foundation for a growing network of studios worldwide. Our challenge was to create a new name, identity, and brand architecture that could unify multiple locations under a single banner while remaining flexible enough to accommodate future sister properties.

Approach + Solution

We began by developing the naming strategy for the flagship studio. The result was Shadowbox Studios, a name inspired by the craft of filmmaking itself—where light, depth, and perspective come together to create cinematic worlds. The name provided both a conceptual foundation and a distinctive identity capable of expanding beyond a single location.

From there, we built a comprehensive brand architecture designed to scale. Shadowbox would serve as the primary master brand, with individual studio campuses able to integrate seamlessly into the system while maintaining geographic distinction. This structure ensured that new properties could be incorporated into the network without fragmenting the overall brand.

With the strategic framework established, we crafted a complete visual identity system for Shadowbox Studios. The brand language was designed to feel bold, modern, and cinematic—reflecting both the technical precision and creative ambition of large-scale film production. We developed an iconic logo, a hierarchy-driven type system, a refined color palette, and a flexible graphic toolkit capable of spanning digital, physical, and environmental applications.

The identity was then extended across a wide range of brand touchpoints. We designed and developed a new website that serves as a digital front door for productions seeking world-class facilities. Built on a scalable design system, the site showcases studio capabilities while accommodating future locations and evolving content needs.

Every element was crafted to reinforce the new identity while ensuring clarity and usability for the crews, talent, and visitors who move through the studios each day.

The result is a cohesive brand universe that transforms Shadowbox Studios from a single rebranded property into the foundation of a global production network.
